Aggressive Attitudes Consultation Seminar
- do you think that your dog has aggression issues? Are you afraid of taking it on walks, or to have someone visit your home. Its time to take charge and address the issues with our behavior modification instructor, Sheri Gintner. This seminar is for owner's only and will help you and the instructor to identify if your dog is exhibiting aggression, fear, or another behavior.

Participants in this seminar will learn about:

  • Causes of Aggression: Temperament and Training

  • Environmental Management to Prevent Aggressive Acts

  • Retraining: Eliminating Aggression from the Dogs Choice of Responses

  • Conditioning:  Teaching the Dog to Relax on Command

 
This is the first step to addressing your dog's aggressive attitude prior to scheduleing private classes. This class is appropriate if your dog exhibits aggression with food, possessions, stranger (dog or person), dominance (couch, bed, space.) Participants will see a demo to teach, nationally recognized behaviorist Karen Overall's Protocol for Relaxation, will leave with a copy of Karen Overall's protocol; an explanation of How Dog's Learn; Positive Reinforcement Instructions for teaching your dog to Kennel Up.In addition to your registration please complete the following questionnaire and bring a printed copy to the seminar.Your Name:List name and age of every person that lives with the dog:

 Western Pennsylvania Humane Society has a well developed community education program that is appropriate for all age groups from 2 yrs old through adults. Presentations can be prepared to meet your needs.  These programs are taught by a certified teacher with 32 years of classroom experience. The content and duration of each session is adjusted to meet the needs of the learners.

The current established programs are

Dog Safety
   Most dog bites can be avoided by learning how to respond to the signals that dogs send.This program is appropriate for preschoolers, with songs, role playing and interactive activities. It is further developed to meet the needs of all age learners with additional information included. Dog Safety Skills can help humans prevent dog bites for the rest of their lives. 
These lessons are presented with Licensed Therapy Dogs in attendance so that learners may practice newly learned skills
with dogs who are highly trained and very social.

 Pet Care
All companion animals are better friends when they are healthy. This program underlines the basic needs of all living being and supports good health habits for humans as well. Specially trained animals accompany the presenter, allowing the participants to practice grooming and handling skills. 

Living with Bunnies
Rabbits are the third most popular companion animal. They can live for 10 years with the proper care, and provide unique opportunities for companionship when properly handled and understood. These lessons teach everything you need to know to live with a bunny. Rabbits are included in the session to demonstrate the different species and personalities of rabbits. 

Careers with Animals
There are many careers that allow you to interface with animals. This presentation highlights common and lesser know occupations, necessary education and opportunity for employment. It is appropriate for Elementary through Adult Learners, and can include specially trained animals to enhance the learning experience.
