Tips On Finding Your Pet:

• Load your lost pet information and a photo on our web site using the links to the left. (Postings are listed for 1 month. It is your responsibility to watch this site and repost if your pet is still missing).
• Review Found Pet section on the website to search for your pet.
• Call and file a lost pet report with local shelters and animal control in your area.

If your pet is lost outside of the city limits, call your municipality for your local animal control.

• Make Lost Pet flyers with your pet's picture in color. Distribute to veterinarian offices, convenience stores, gas stations, coffee shops and other frequently visited shops in your area. Distribute to local shelters and animal control centers.
• Notify neighbors, mailman & school guards - they are aware of happening in the area
• If you moved recently, your pet could travel back to your previous home. Check with the neighbors around your previous residence.
• Put an article of clothing with your scent on it or your pet's favorite bedding outside in a quiet place. Your lost pet might just return to that familiar spot.
• Lost Cat - Check hiding places, such as garages, garden sheds & abandon homes. At dusk, check with flash light under porches and bushes near your home.

*When you find your pet, consider a microchip - it's a permanent form of identification.*

Found a Pet?

Please note under PA State Law, animals are still considered property. If you find an animal, you should release it to the nearest animal shelter or animal control facility. These facilities can scan the pet for a microchip and if a microchip is found reunite the pet with their family.

If you do not release the animal to a shelter or animal control facility, you are fully responsible for searching and finding the pet's family.

About Stray Animals

Stray animals do not belong to WPHS while on stray status. Once it is "ours" it is removed from the website and made unavailable as we evaluate the dog both medically and behaviorally.

While the customer believes they are the "first" to commit to adopt or see the animal - we may have already had 50 inquiries both by phone and by visiting. We have advised all interested potential adopters of the policy as stated above.

We encourage everyone to go to the website under available animals and enter their breed that they are interested in. That means they will at least get an e-mail when a breed that they are interested in becomes available. That does not guarantee adoption though.

After an animal is made available, it may have a "hold" on it for a meet and greet with other animals or other family member but only after a deposit has been placed and they have actually interacted with the animal.
