Which class is right for you?


Just adopted, rescued or purchased a dog or puppy ... now what? Enroll in an obedience training class at the Western PA Humane Society! Our GET SMART! Dog Training Center locations are on the North shore (near Heinz Field) and Crafton. Each center offers a variety of classes assisting you and your pet's needs:

BASIC: Elementary classes for teaching basic skills and forming a bond with your pet

ADVANCED: Continuing courses and mastering canine good citizen manners

SPORTS & FUN: Exercise & entertainment for you and your pet

TUTORING: Assistance for specific needs

TUTORING: sessions for assisting with your pet's specific needs

CGC/TDI: Canine Good Citizenship / Therapy Dog International preparation for the test


Our Canine Professors (dog training instructors) are itching to share pet parenting advice and positive methods of teaching your new pal. By registering for classes now, you and your pet could be graduating with high honors. Last year's attendance at the GET SMART! Dog Training Centers was over 1,500 dogs.

Obedience Classes are held at one of our two training locations:
North Shore Shelter: 1101 Western Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15233 (two blocks from Heinz Field)
and
Crafton:
57 Noble Avenue, Crafton 15205

TUITION FEES:
$75 – current WPHS Members
$90 – Non-members
Behavior Modification and Specialty class tuition fees as marked.

REFUND POLICY
If a class must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, refunds will be issued. Notice of cancellation by a student must be done no later than three days prior to the first class in order to be rescheduled or for a refund to be issued.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS
We require proof of current vaccinations for distemper and rabies at orientation classes. Please contact your veterinary for medical advice and proof of vaccinations.

If classes are cancelled due to inclement weather conditions, a message will be posted on the hotline by 6 PM for evening classes and by 8 AM for weekends. Also, class cancellations can be seen on KDKA and WPXI.
